Updated for the 2025/26 season
The Amplid Kodama is a powder-specialist splitboard built for tight tree lines and deep backcountry forests. Its name translates from Japanese as “the spirit living in the forest” — and the board delivers on that promise. With a wide nose, tapered tail, and swallow-tail finish, it generates cork-like float in deep snow while staying nimble enough for quick direction changes between trees.

Shape & Geometry
Tapered Directional shape with a setback stance (30 mm back) and significantly wider nose than tail (312 mm vs 296 mm). The result is built-in float without needing to ride fully setback — the board does the work for you. The swallow tail lets the tail sink just enough to lift the nose in deep snow, and allows quick edge-to-edge changes in tight terrain.
Directional Cruise Camber sits between traditional camber and full rocker. You get precise edge hold on hardpack approaches, combined with improved float in soft snow. The early rise at the tip prevents tip-diving in deep powder.

Who Is It For?
The Kodama is for intermediate-to-expert backcountry riders who spend the majority of their days in powder and forested terrain. It is not an all-mountain board — on hardpack, firmer conditions, or groomed approaches it feels like overkill. But the moment you hit waist-deep snow in the trees, the Kodama becomes one of the most fun boards in the database. The swallow tail and wide nose combination is difficult to find at this price point.
Rider weight range 55–95 kg covers most adult riders well. At 3.35 kg it’s not ultralight, but the construction holds up to heavy use in rocky terrain.
Verdict
If your ideal splitboard day is touring into dense forest and surfing powder between tight trees, the Kodama is purpose-built for exactly that. The swallow tail gives it a character that’s hard to find in other boards in the database — playful, floaty, and quick in confined spaces. The flex 6/10 keeps it accessible without being boring. Best-in-class for forest/powder specialist use.
