Jones Splitboards — Overview, Models & Buyer Guide

Jones Snowboards was founded in 2009 by Jeremy Jones — big mountain snowboarder, environmental activist, and one of the people most responsible for the modern splitboard movement. Based in Truckee, California, Jones builds boards that are as comfortable on a 50-degree pillow line as they are on a 20-kilometre skin track. Their commitment to the mountains extends beyond riding: Jones is a certified B Corporation and a founding member of Protect Our Winters.

Jones Splitboard Lineup

Jones offers one of the most complete splitboard ranges on the market, from the do-everything Solution to the ultralight Stratos and the powder-focused Hovercraft 2.0. Every board in the Jones split lineup is built with Timber Tek wood sourcing and environmentally responsible processes.

Who Are Jones Splitboards For?

Jones splitboards suit riders who take their backcountry ambitions seriously. The Solution is the benchmark for the advanced all-rounder; the Flagship is built for aggressive freeriders who want maximum edge hold; the Stratos targets gram-counters and ski mountaineers. Women-specific shapes in the Solution and Stratos lines ensure female riders aren’t just getting a pink version of the men’s board.

Jones Construction Philosophy

Jones builds its splitboard cores from a mix of poplar and paulownia, wrapped in bi-axial and tri-axial fibreglass with carbon reinforcements on the more demanding models. The Sintered 9900 base is among the fastest in the split market, absorbing wax effectively for better glide on long descents. Jones uses Voile clip inserts on all their splits, ensuring compatibility with the widest range of split hardware.
